About the Author Bruce Ricketts is a military-BRAT who spent his childhood living in various parts of Canada. Over the past 50+ years, Mr. Ricketts has lived in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. He has traveled from shore to shore across Canada five times by car and hundreds of times by airplane. He has visited every part of Canada except Nunavut (planned for 2007). He is a true student of the Canadian political system, having worked on political campaigns at all three levels of government and for three different political parties (he supports the candidate more than the party). He was a candidate, himself, for Calgary City Council in 1983. His international consultancy has taken him to every continent except Antarctica, and has allowed him to see, first hand, many different governing principals and structures. His first book, based on his very popular www.mysteriesofcanada.com web site, entitled, The S.S. Ethie and the Hero Dog, took five years to investigate and was published in June 2005. His latest non-fiction work is the book that the politicians do not want you to read. Entitled, The Provinces Must Go, he describes how Canada came into being and the structure of government designed by the Fathers of Confederation. He then goes on to analyze the current delivery of governance in Canada and, as a result of the analysis, concludes that Canada is over-governed. He maintains that one level of government is redundant to the needs of modern Canadians and - THE PROVINCES MUST GO. He concludes by describing what should be Canada’s new form of governance shared between the feds and the munis. Country Out of Crisis builds on the success of his Provinces Must Go book and is based on many, many hours of searching for just the right mix of scenarios should, hell let's say it, when Quebec separates. |
